Orofino Police Chief Succumbs
     
Orofino, March 1 – Charles Henry Crumpacker, 64, chief of Police at Orofino for the last 18 years, died yesterday afternoon at 5 at the Orofino hospital following complications from and amputated leg and diabetes.
     
Before becoming police chief here, Crumpacker was employed “for a long time in a Peck grain warehouse,” friends said. He was born in Wheatland, Ore., in 1877.
     
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. E. C. Babcock, Mrs. Ben McEvers, and Mrs. Sam Bolon, Orofino; Mrs. Barbara Keen, Portland, and four sons, Boyd and Virgil, Camas Wash., and George and Eric, Portland.
     
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 from the Orofino Methodist church, the Rev. Pittman officiating. Interment will be in the Sunnyside cemetery. The body is at the Shaw funeral home.
